I encounter gay men and women fighting against God every day. I feel SO VERY fortunate that this was never me. While I’ve struggled with temptation, lust and occasional failures, my struggle has never been against God but a battle between my flesh and my spirit. After receiving Christ as Lord at 22, I continued to struggle. However, after every single fall, I got up and ran to Him, confessing to Him and accountability. I understand the pull of the flesh and this world. The undressed buff men online are beautiful to look at and sexual desire and release are our drug. To give that up, so many cannot comprehend because they are so addicted. Others, the emotional tie of the same-sex partner is something that they cannot seem to escape, and is in essence is their god. Many feel isolated from the church and their families, misunderstood, abandoned and lonely.
A great many shun these men and women in disgust, leaving them nowhere else to turn than the gay community. The age that we live in makes it almost impossible to walk away, as it is not only condoned but pushed on men and women who struggle.
Some choose to lie to themselves and say that they’re born that way and God’s okay with same-sex union, worshipping at a gay friendly “Christian” church, or even fully gay congregations called the MCC. I call this God-Ala-Carte. Some turn to atheism, saying that there is no God (knowing full well there is–many already having professed Him as Lord at a young age). While others join a growing movement to pursue witchcraft, worshipping all sorts of things. The remainder of those fighting God try to have it both ways worshipping at their local Unitarian church that accepts all faiths except Christ as Lord.
All the while, their soul has no rest; no peace. Their inward heart cries out for truth, the creation to worship its Creator. I pray that they turn before they destroy themselves, before they hurt themselves from the emotional warfare, the countless viruses, and being used and abused by the world. May we be a light to them, and love them back to Him.
My response to this morning’s (secret Facebook) daily devotion, written for SSA over-comers. I’d encourage you to join (by asking me to add you), or if you’re in the group to make it a daily habit.
Acts 5:38 “Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. 39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”
